Having healthy skin isn't gender specific. Even men need to look there best. From the office to post workout having the perfect skin regimen will create a groomed and flawless look for any gentleman.

I tell my male clients all the time to never be ashamed of wanting perfect skin, its completely natural. Makeup and skin care are traditionally focused to be marketed towards women. Recent studies have shown that more men then ever are purchasing male toiletries other than shaving cream and razors. Everyone needs to look there best. So girls get the guys in you life on board. Lets do baby steps. Here are some product recommendations and tips on 101 Male grooming and skin care.

Focus On The Skin

Unlike women, guys don't have the pressure of nailing the perfect winged cat eye or that annoying problem of trying to prevent lipstick from getting on their teeth.

The one thing we do have in common is skin! For male grooming its very important to address and care for the skin. With constant abrasive techniques like shaving men should pay close attention to maintaining healthy skin.

There's so many companies that now offer skin care specifically for gentleman. The demand was high and now the supply is here.

Tip #1

Guys...put down the bar soap and invest in a great cleanser and mask! You'll thank me later.

Begin with a skin purifying mud mask and cleanser like Tom Ford for Men mud mask $60 & cleanser $48. I recommend using a mud mask at least once a week to renew the skin and remove dirt and bacteria deep within the pores. Facial cleanser is great for daily cleaning but its so necessary to do a deep cleanse and remove the dirt that your daily cleaners didn't get.

If your looking for a more affordable option I recommend Jack Black All Over Wash $9-15. This product is a 3-in-1. Its a body wash, facial cleanser, shampoo and hair conditioner. It has a great masculine scent and provides amazing hydration and it won't dry out your skin.

Tip #2

For those days when you have an unpleasant breakout dab a little consealer on blemishes or use a tinted moisturizer. I enjoy using a tinted moisturizer like NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer $42 on my males clients because it looks just like skin and contains a SPF of 30 which is great for protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. Use all over or just on problem areas.

Tip:

To address those nasty unexpected breakouts try dabbing toothpaste that is a non gel formula (gel tooth paste tends not to be as effective) on the pimple at night.

Tip #3

A lot of products are formulated specifically for men in mind with salicylic acid to diminish acne, razor burn, and other irritations over time. I recommend EvolutionMan

To maintain a healthy body workouts are encouraged. But what about post work out routines?

Acne knows no gender. We all have breakouts time to time. In particular its important for men to treat their skin because of increased manual labor that causes more sweating and more dirt!

You can also use the award winning The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil $9 at night to prevent and heal acne. If you can get past the raw scent this is a great product that I highly recommend.
