Where Beauty Professionals Meet, Learn, & Shop!
The Makeup Show NYC was held this year at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Popular exhibitors included Kevyn Aucoin, Eve Pearl, Inglot, Nars, MAC, Ellis Faas, Charlotte Tilbury, Crown Brushes, Smash Box, AJ Crimson, and Make Up Forever.
There's 3 reason to attend The Makeup Show. Networking opportunities, education, & savings! (in that order)
I get very excited about going to makeup trade shows because I like to take advantage of all the discounts which include anywhere from 30% to 60% off retail value. But more importantly the amount of education is phenomenal.
I got the pleasure of sitting front row in 5-time Emmy Award Winner Eve Pearl's "Beauty, Business and the Base for Success" seminar. She discussed things like how to succeed in this business with tips on how to negotiate pricing, the importance of minimizing your pro makeup kit, and how to do a makeup application in under 20 mins.
Another highlight of the show was meeting and greeting so many talented people who share the same passion. I got the pleasure of meeting celebrity artist AJ Crimson, US Sales Director for Charlotte Tilbury, Director of Pro Artist Relations for Kevyn Aucoin, and the US Director for Ellis Faas.
In addition, I meet with many of my fellow peers. Often times on social media you become so familiar with someone's work and it's great to finally meet people in person.
I was also introduced to a global makeup artist community known as The Powder Group which was created by Michael DeVellis. TPG was designed for professionals to connect and it provides multiple resources to expand your business.
You can also sign up for pro memberships at participating booths with instant membership, with no fees and little to no credentials needed.
Other than the Pop Up Show this was my first time attending The Makeup Show NYC and it will certainly not be my last
